Abi Clarke
In the earlier
days (i.e. in the early 2020s comedians were expected to be performing for
years in the UK before being invited onto an audience on TV and then selling
out arena shows. It's not simple at present. One form of art that can still be
performed live is comedy, but there won't soon be any arena performances. But
there is a Bristol comedian has found a global audience through a the social
media lockdown. Finding internet fame is not something that Abi Clarke was
hoping to achieve. The 24-year-old who lives in Hen bury with her parents,
began creating online videos "to build a following of like-minded
individuals who would appreciate my stand-up comedy. "I was performing a
lot in Devon to males in their 50s that weren't as hot on my Love Island Sims
and Twilight references, so it was the right time to search online for others
who were young and would enjoy my stand-up comedy." Abi, who lives in
Henbury with her parents, has continued to post her videos on Instagram, Twitter,
and Tik Tok. She finds inspiration from a variety of sources, such as
conversations with strangers, the chatroom, and also writing notes on her
smartphone.
